That is correct. Just be sure you do as Opus says and exit SageTV and stop SageTV Service (if run as service) before moving.

Can I take a (finished) TV recording, and while Sage is running, move it to an imported media directory, and Sage will pick up that it moved and still list it and play it properly?

No. See answers by Opus and my answer above. Stop SageTV Service and Close SageTV before moving. Then move from one imported media directory to another.

Will the recording still count toward the minimum amount of shows to keep, in other words if I say to keep at least 3 Law and Order episodes and I move 3 of the current episodes to an import directory, will that still satisfy the "keep at least 3" or will Sage still keep another 3 in one of its recording directories?
|
Not sure - but I'm guessing it will continue to count against the "keep at least 3" as long as SageTV sees it as a recorded show and not an imported video.

Actually the FAQ does address this specific question. And the answer is yes.

I'm also wondering if the import directory needs to have "import video" selected or can I just create an import directory that does not look for video, audio or pictures and move the existing recordings there? I realize that's a bit of an odd question but this way maybe Sage would recognize the shows but they would not also show up under the media library?

Needs to have "import video" selected or it won't be looking for or cataloging videos or shows in that directory.
