Major hurdle for formr MCE users - dvr-ms not supported on HD200 - FIXED

I tried playing some dvr-ms files on my HD-200 and while the video plays fine I don't get audio - either using digital or analog outputs. I emailed Sage support and they said that this file type is not supported.

I wonder why not? Dvr-ms files play fine on my Sage PC and also via Placeshifter. Dvr-ms is, I am lead to believe, a slight variant on MPEG-2 files with some additional metadata info, etc. Would it be a big problem to support dvr-ms on extenders?

Former users of MCE, like myself, are likely to have lots of content in dvr-ms format. Sure it can be converted using software like VideoReDo, or perhaps even the SageTranscoder, but it is a pain to have to convert dozens or hundreds of files.

That's a definite - submit as a bug issue. This is the first I've heard of it and could be the first SageTV has heard of it as well.

That's ok. Doesn't mean they won't support it in the future - and it confirms they know it's an issue.

I'm assuming it was a non DRM'd DVR-MS file correct?

Yes, non-DRM'ed file, at least as far as I know it has not DRM. I tried several files from several channels and I never have had any DRM issues.

Any chance of this being fixed or am I going to have to convert to a different file format to get sound working?

yeah, I'd be interested in finding out about this; it'll make my wife happy to watch some of our previous recordings via the extender.

THe weird part is on my PC, when I try to watch these VMC dvr-ms files, I get audio but no video.

Do you still have issues if you use the latest beta firmware?

I can confirm that this is now fixed - thanks Sage. It is great to use a product where the users are listened to!
