Hauppauge PVR-150 MCE supported?

Before spending the money, I would like to be 100% sure that the PVR-150 and PVR-150_MCE are both supported by Sage and give same functionality (at a 20% reduced price).

It's on the supported cards list for Sage, but can anybody confirm that both cards work identically in Sage (and if any, what the difference between them is)?

Jan

I have a PVR-150 and it works fine in Sage. From the research I did, here is what I understand to be the difference :

o MCE version comes with MCE remote (and USB IR receiver for it)
o non-MCE versions come with Hauppauge 45 button remote ( I know this for sure!)
o MCE doesn't come with any bundled software as its designed to be used with Media Centre Edition (hence the name)
o non-MCE comes with Win2k Hauppauge software (You're not missing much if you dont get it, but sometimes its useful to know if I can recieve a TV signal outside Sage etc)

Hope that helps

Tim

Here's the comparison chart from Hauppauge:

Thanks for that quick feedback!

So it will be the MCE card.

1. It's 20% cheaper as the standard card.
2. The Hauppauge software can be freely downloaded from there site (if needed).
3. It has radio included, the standard card hasn't.

I just wanted to make sure there were no hidden limitations.

Again, thanks!

I would check it comes with the MCE remote for that price. But if you already have a remote then you're laughing...

edit: and from what I can find, the FM tuner isn't supported in Sage even with a plugin/customization

It also doesn't come with an IR blaster (in case you need a cable box solution). But you can buy other blaster options...

Only the MCE Kit version comes with an MCE remote, and the MCE version of the card has no IR connector port.

If you are using the Hauppuage remote, be aware that the Hauppauge IR drivers can't tell that the MCE version of the card has no IR port & may try to use that card as the IR receiver. If this happens it can be a pain trying to get it to recognize the proper card that actually has the port instead.

There is an FM radio customization in the List of available customizations, but it may not have been updated for v6... so it isn't listed as one of the v6 customizations yet.

Note that neither Sage nor this plugin supports internet radio on the MVP (Booo Sage!)

Also, I'm running two 150MCE's right now. I use the std. 150 drivers and everything works just fine. Highly recommended to save a few bucks.

Great to hear you got it working. Overhere (Belgium) the Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150 goes at 100 Euro, the Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150MCE bulk at 80 Euro. The latter has no remote included (the MCE one must be used).

However, this is for a setup where the user would use the Standard GUI on the PC (so mouse is fully supported) and would mainly use the MediaMVP to access the media files (and that one has its own remote with it).

And for those who wonder on SageMC and PC mouse support, there are some instances where I got 'blocked' if I hadn't had a remote at hand. E.g., how to get out of a maximized SageMC. E.g., how to leave the Guide. Hence if no remote better to use the Standard GUI.

PS: Could you install beside SageTV the radio software from Hauppauge, or is this not a separate software?

You could certainly install them, but then neither one would work on the MVP .

Not sure about running both on the server simultaneously w/o an MVP.

Running both services (Hauppauge and SageTV) is not possible to my knowledge. I was just wondering if the radio software from Hauppauge was part of the Hauppauge service running or a separate software just talking to the appropriate drivers. In the latter case it may be possible to run the Sage service and the Hauppauge radio software beside each other. However, thinking about it, both would interact with identical PCI card - thay may be a problem.

Something to try out as soon as the card is delivered.

Question

Hi, I currently have a PVR-350 in my TV PC. I want to add more tuners to be able to record a channel while watching another and use another channel on a STV client at the same time.

I got a deal to buy two new PVR-150MCE cards and I want to know how will these cards integrates to my current setup. Will I have problem using my remote (connected to my PVR-350 card) with the two PVR-150MCE? Will the integration of the new cards needs some special configuration to be recognized by STV?

Thanks!

I've just got the 150MCE Kitfrom ebay. Does anyone know if the included USB blaster can be used with Sage? If so can anyone point me in the right direction for getting it to work?

Thanks,
Greg
