Dual Tuner DVR Cards

So I am looking at getting a new digital tuner & trying to decide if I can use one dual tuner card, like the HVR 2250 or need two separate cards each with one tuner? Now that I need my cable box (converter) because of government mandate & encryption from my cable company - can I just use some kind of splitter to setup 2 cable boxes with one, dual-tuner card? I think I understand how to setup a USB-UIRT so it can control more than one box....

There is a "header" that attaches to the 2250 that gives you a second set of composite/svideo inputs. One set plugs right into the card and the second set is a small PCB that plugs into the card. This is true for any dual tuner such as the Hauppauge PVR500.
