QIP-7100 Firewire drivers?
I received my new QIP-7100's and have been unable to find firewire drivers to support channel changing. Specifically the AV/c Panel device.
I believe Opus4 has the QIP-7100 working correctly so I do think the drivers exist. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Dan |

The drivers for the AV Panel are the same as the Tuner. You have to update the device drivers manually and point it to the driver file.

figured it out
in Windows XP just use the same drivers as for the other moto cable boxes (like the 6200 and 6208), but you have to choose "install from a specific location", point it to the dir with the moto drivers in it and choose "don't search I will choose a driver to install".
Then click have disk, and point it back to the dir with the motorolla drivers and for the panel device choose Motorola AV/C Panel device (with nothing after it). You will get a message saying windows cannot verify the driver is compatible. Install anyway. Do the same for the tuner device, just choose Motorola AV/C Tuner Device. After I did all that I couldn't get channel.exe working. It kept saying it's not compatible with this device. Looking at the binary in notepad I could tell the PCI device ID's were hardcoded and the 7100 just isn't in there. When I did a channel /v I could see device 1 was a the Moto Tuner device and device 2 was the Motorola AV/C Panel Device. Trying channel.exe /f 1 100 bluescreened my system. Channel /f 2 100 did the trick! so because the PCI ID for the 7100 isn't listed in the binary you have to use the /f (force argument) on channel.exe. Remember to get your exe tuner plugin in sage working you also have to update the registry entry- HKLM\Software\Sage\EXETunerPlugin\command (for sage 6.4.8, it seems to move per version of sage) be sure to add the -f right after channel.exe. Hope this helps, I spent several hours on google trying to find the answer and couldn't find it so hopefully this save someone some time Last edited by cyberfreak; 12-20-2008 at 11:52 PM. |

you can manually edit the firestb.inf file to add the qip7100 so it will be recognized when you load the driver............still need to use the -f option in the channel changer though |

Bluescreening
I just got Fios and have 4 of these QIP-7100 boxes. I grabbed the latest drivers from Exdeus's site and used those drivers. I am still using Timoores channel.exe to view and change channels. Channel -v shows me all the boxes. However when I try the force switch it bluescreens. Any ideas?

What OS are you running? x64/x32? And what is the stop message you get on the bluescreen?

XP 32 bit. I will have to check out the BSOD code in a bit.
I am fairly certain I am picking the correct one. Who would I go about editing the inf file to add these cable boxes? Here is my Channel.exe -v results Code:

The 3 FireBus MPEG2TS Tuner Subunit Devices are not the correct devices for channel changing. There should also be AV/C Panel Devices as well. You need to keep installing drivers and they should show up as devices 4, 5, and 6 in your case. Trying to point channel.exe to a Tuner Subunit Device is guaranteed to blue screen Windows.

I was using the wrong sources. I have fixed that. Now I need to configure the EXETunerPlugin to work with more than one cable box. The directions for this are very poor. Can someone walk me through the steps? I can't get the boxes to change channel. I am also having vidio issues with Colossus but that is step 3 :P

Hi all
when i plug a QIP 7100 2 into my new firewire 400 card, i get nothing new in device manager (xp 32b). The FW card shows up, but no unknown devices, and device manager doesn't refresh as it usually does when things are plugged in. I'm looking for another FW device to test it with, but aside from a bum card, is there anything else i should check? Do i have to enable the FW port on the STB? Does it matter if it is a 400 FW card? I only plan on changing channels, not recording video. thanks!
