Getting firewire going with 6.3.10

I'm trying to get SageTV to capture video over firewire from a Motorola 6412 III cable box. MythTV works fine, as does the libiec61883 test-mpeg2 program. However, Sage is having trouble.

It almost, sort of works: when I first tune to a channel, there's a brief snippet of sound and a still frame from the video. About 30 seconds later, Sage gives me the message "No Signal." Looking at sagetv_0.txt it doesn't look like anything interesting is going on:

Fri 4/11 14:03:54.383 Firewire setChannel0
Fri 4/11 14:03:54.383 Firewire set channel 0.

Fri 4/11 14:03:54.385 67 release response 08487CE7
Fri 4/11 14:03:54.385 Firewire updateColors0 b=0 c=0 h=0 s=0
Fri 4/11 14:03:54.385 Firewire setChannel0
Fri 4/11 14:03:54.385 Firewire set channel 4.
Fri 4/11 14:03:54.386 power response 09FFB270
Fri 4/11 14:03:54.387 67 push response 09487C67
Fri 4/11 14:03:54.388 67 release response 08487CE7
Fri 4/11 14:03:54.388 Firewire SetEncoding
Fri 4/11 14:03:54.388 Firewire setup encoding.
Fri 4/11 14:03:54.668 Loading 0x0 image from file /opt/sagetv/server/STVs/SageTV3/OSDChUp.png

...and there's a bunch more of those Loading image lines, and then nothing (until I change channels, etc). No errors.

I should say that MythTV was erratic until I switched its firewire to "Broadcast" mode rather than P2P. Is there any similar setting in Sage, or any firewire settings at all? Or any other tips on getting this working?

Thanks!

To followup, I now have mythTV rock solid in firewire P2P mode, but Sage has the same problem as before. I'd still rather use Sage, so I'd love any tips on getting it working.
