Problem after upgrading to 6.4

Apologies if this issue has been posted before, if it is I apparently couldn't find the correct search terms. I installed Sage in July 2008, all was running good on version 6.3.10.166 but I decided anyway to upgrade. Last night I finished watching a program, closed Sage, and upgraded to 6.4.8.184. Right away I started having this issue:

When selecting any channel or any previously recorded show, the window freezes for almost exactly 2 minutes. During that time the GUI shows but the video area is black. Processor is at 100% and an mpeg starts building in my storage directory containing the video that I would be seeing if it were playing. After the 2 minutes has elapsed the video starts playing at the beginning (in other words, it's like it's buffering 2 minutes of video.)

I've put in an official support request. While I'm waiting for that, I'm contemplating uninstalling, clearing out the directory, and then reinstalling freshly. Another thought was to reinstall the old version - however, I don't think I still have the installer.

Has anyone else experienced this sort of problem?
Is the 6.3.10.166 installer file available anywhere?

Note, I answered one of my own questions. Sage 6.3.10 is still available from the download site, you just have to type in the name of the file.
