Can I convert .tp files?

Does anyone know how I can get sagetv to convert .tp files into something smaller / more usable in sagetv? Will the video tools plugin help me here. . .?

For those that don't know . . . .tp files are MPEG transport stream files created by Snapstream's BeyondTV (what I used to use).

I have one recording that is over 7GB, and my portable hard drive will only let me have files that are 4GB or less in size (since its formatted Fat32).

DivX converter doesn't recognize it. . .

SageTV won't show it in the video's section (but it will play it if i just have it load the file, same with Windows Media Player).

I tried searching the threads but couldn't find anything definitive.. .

Try adding .ts to the seeker/video_library_import_filename_extensions= line in the Sage .properties file. It should then recognize and play it with the rest of its files. It eill end up in the video library. Search the forum because there are plugins and tools to help you move from BTV.

try to change it to a .TS or a .mpg file to see how divx converter will handle the file then

Another thing to try is HandBrake (they just came out with a new version a couple of days ago http://handbrake.fr/ I haven't personally used this program yet but allot of people in the forums have praised it.

Could you convert your FAT32 to NTFS on your portable drive? You can use program to convert without loosing your data.
