Black Screen when Playing

Just installed Placeshifter.

Music Works fine, but When playing media - either downloaded mkv or recorded from HDHR, I get a black screen - no audio, no change in time bar.

Any ideas?

if i'm on my home network - I can browse "Local Network" as the placeshifter server and the video works.

If I connect to the server using the locater id - the video does not work - everything else does.

same problem as srothwell a couple posts down - if I set transcoding to manual it works off my network.

quality is crappy this way compared to default which works over LAN

UF, I don't have specific answers for you, but I think it's safe to say some problems were introduced into Placeshifter with 6.4. My "solution" was to roll my placeshifter clients back to 6.3.10 ( server's still at 6.4). Looking at the change log for 6.5, many improvements are coming so I'd wait for that version to come out of testing.

I have the same issue and I am running the latest Beta 3. If I set to manual I can see the video but looks bad. Client works good with everything even HD PVR.

Add me to the list as a unhappy Placeshifter user. I though 6.4 worked ok but the new 6.5.3 is horrible when remote.

Please add me to that list as well. I've got two HD 200s and love them. I have two Clients and they work great as well. Placeshifter just isn't working.

I'm getting blackout video, but sound is playing just fine. It might be user error, but I've now invested three hours futzing with PS and wish I could just convert my two licenses to Clients. The media files all play just fine when run with graphedit and the filter paths are very clean. I've tried manually setting streaming and it did not help.

The Client works great on the machine. My HD 200s work great as well (as stated above.)

Running:

WHS SageServer 6.5.5
Vista SagePS 6.5.5

Serving HD-PVR .ts files, MKVs (H.264) files, XviD avi files. None of them play through the Placeshifter, but play fine on both the Server and PC that the Placeshifter is running on (and on the SageClient on that PC.)

I upgraded from 6.3 to 6.4 and had the same issue. placeshifter worked ont he local network, black screen when outside of the local network. I checked my router log and it stated that IP 71.234.237.47 was blocked for incoming traffic on ports 1865 to 7818. I opened up that IP number (it was the IP that placeshifter said it was connecting to) and also those ports, placeshifter works fine both internally and extrernally now. I need to do some more testing, I don't want to leave that wide range of ports open.
Found it, I have a Dlink DIR-825. On that one I can enable those ports just for the specific IP number.

I am having a similar problem. I can playback audio or picture files over the placeshifter but when I try and playback a movie nothing happens, no black screen, nothing, it is as if I didn't click the button. I can set up the movie in a playlist and it will attempt to play but only gets as far as a black screen.

Any Suggestions?

What do you mean by "movie"? If you are talking DVD, Placeshifter can't play DVDs. Ripped or otherwise.
