Who's happy with thier HD-PVR?
I got mine last week and been having a a few issues with it. What I do see is sometimes on my hd100 a message will pop up on the screen and say something like: unable to communicate with tunner. Drivers might not be installed. I'm running 1.1 drivers too. . So I look in device manager and the hdpvr looks just fine. So I reboot and everythings works for a while. Somethings I go to recoed and get no signal. Reboot once again. Also I noticed, when I do tne to a channel on the hdpvr the blue light around the top doesn't light up?
I just find it a very buggy device. So who's happy, and what problems are you seeing?

I have an original C1 unit that works pretty well for me. I do sometimes get a capture error on it but power cycling the unit solves the problem. I have seen this issue a little more often with the 1.1 drivers but usually only every several days.
Overall I am fairly happy with it but would like to see more stable drivers. |

I now use two of these with my SageTV server and am very happy. I've not lost a recording in almost three months.
You can search for my posts from the end of July thru about the first three weeks of August and see that the case was not always that way. I was new to SageTV and the instability of the HD PVRs had me posting/monitoring posts here 24/7 trying to find clues to get a grip on using my system. There was a lot of trial and error and a lot of frustration. All of that has changed. I am very pleased with the PQ and the way SageTV handles the 5 tuners on my server. I am thrilled with the quality of contributors around here. They are always willing to help and share their knowledge. I have been encouraged to help others (when I can) as a result. I had never heard of a USB-UIRT or Patterson cable before. Boy did I get an education. My HD-PVRs give me something I can't get without them. HiDef recordings (from my DirecTV receivers) that can be viewed from clients throught my house with (Click Pop) 5.1 audio sound.

Just ordered a second one. Obviously I am satisfied.
Mine has been stable very stable. Don't think I have missed more than one recording since the summer. I think the 1.1 driver may not be as good as the original. The sound is noticeably better through the surround sound system but I to get occasional pixelation that I don't think I had before the upgrade. |

I bought mine before the 1.1 drivers and hadn't had time to install. Then I get the drivers and install and the thing won't work.
They think it's a driver issue, new drivers and new version of TME. NOPE So, they still think it's TME. So, they are going to try to work with the TME software company to see what the errors i'm getting. I think it's hardware. They are the process of developing a software to test the hardware. UGHHH! |

I'm happy with mine. I had the lock ups just like everyone else, but I found a great solution. See my thread telling the story here:

I just moved from using a Windows vista network encoder with a HD-PVR to native on my sage linux server without any issues. I have a C1 unit and was lucky enough to not have heat problems that plagued so many other folks...

Love mine. No problems. C2 running the beta drivers (since I haven't gotten around to upgrading to the 1.1 drivers)

Pretty happy. Rarely locks up. The only issue is kind of jittery with high motion scenes. So sports are out. But that's an issue with the Sage demux and the ArcSoft decoder, which is getting fixed. Hopefully 6.5.1 with EVR should fix that.

Been running less than a week, but so far so good. Even the IR blaster works fine. Just need to get comskip working with the h.264 files and I'll be all set.

I have finally raised the white flag with my HD-PVR. I pre-ordered the unit and was one of the first to get one. My initial struggles with the unit were getting playback to work properly. With more recent versions of the ATI video drivers I was able to solve that hurdle.
With playback being solved, all my effort has been stability of the system. Like many others, I was needing to power cycle the unit nearly daily. I went through one RMA and replaced my C1 unit with a C3 unit, but the lockups continue. I have lost enough recordings to date to make the decision that having HD on some channels is just not worth the chance of missing the show entirely. For the foreseeable future, my HD-PVR is going in the box. -Mike |

Extremely happy. I also have a C1 running on WHS. Stabilty is fine. No lockups. Running the 1.1 drivers so I get 5.1 sound. I think maybe 2 or 3 times I got a no tuner message in Sage and had to power cycle the HD-PVR. That hasn't happened in months. Most of the watching is on a HD-100 or PC Clients with either an ATI HD3450 or a nVidia 7050PV/630a integrated video. No stutter on either.

I have a C2 unit on my new server. I am very happy now that EVR support with DXVA2 is here and working. Picture is awesome from my DirecTV box. I plan to get another one soon when the money situation gets better.
I have noticed that my C2 unit (has fan, but seems pointless) hasn't locked up once since it's getting colder in the basement (55-60F) due to the colder weather outside. I have bought a 120mm fan to install, but just haven't done it yet. That said, I probably had only 2-3 lockups due to heat the entire summer and a quick turn off/on fixed it right up. |

My only issue is the same as Clift's jittery playback. And for some reason this seems to have gotten worse for me - either that or I notice it more. It really bugged me watching a basketball game last night.

I have a C2 unit and am extremely happy with it. The only time I miss a recording is when IR Blaster doesn't change the channel. I *never* have to power cycle and can't remember the last time my HD PVR locked up.
Just waiting for the current Sage beta to mature a little bit more before I try EVR which I anticipate will solve the last bit of micro stuttering I have with fast action and crawls.

I have a C2 and D1 unit. Have had two weeks of error free recording. Was having some problems with the HD100 not picking up the Audio on live TV but that has gone away. I seem to have to reboot the HD-PVR's after the server has come back from a reboot, but that is rare that I reboot my server.
I don't see any stutter on the HD100 during playback and have enjoyed a lot of NHL games over the last few weeks. I am definitely satisfied with the results so far.

I have a rev C1 that I'm using with a USBUIRT and a comcast motorolla box, recording 2 to 6+ things a day (including 4 episodes of lost back to back each Monday) and it has been rock solid perfect for the last month.
I just in the last week got the latest comskip working perfectly (2 iterations, one for h264 files and 1 for mpeg driven by dirmon2) and at this point for the first time ever I didn't jump right on the newest beta because everything is working so perfectly and I don't want to break it. Only things I have left that I need/want out of sage are perfect blu-ray rip playback and multi-user environement mated with excellent parental controls. Really seems like a wide variety of experiences with the HD PVR. Really wonder what the variable is that causes that (I had lots of hang ups during the summer when it was hot in my study and I was going through Sage Betas, but all is now great.)
