security cameras / kodicom / webdvr
Hi,
I have Sagetv6, an elk m1 security system and a pc based kodicom security camera system (4400 card). I can view the cameras over the internet on my pc in the house or outside the home. But... I would love to view within sage. Maybe use sage as the camera recorder instead of the wevdvr software. The camera pc is a seperate pc, the 16 cameras are all installed, I tried to just install sage to see if it would recognize the cameras as video sources but it didnt. Any way to get sage to recognize the video cameras as video sources? Anyone know of a way to integrate sage with the webdvr software? I remember a thread on here a while back about integrating home security, but havent seen anyone on security cameras... Help? |

I would love to see this too!
My setup has 4 cameras connected to an old computer but it would be nice if I could setup a network encoder that Sage could recognize. Another option would be to capture the output from the security cam computer with another analog card on the server. Any suggestions? |

Thanks,
I considered the analog card idea, but I figure since the two cards I have records 16 cameras at once, may as well figure a way for sage to talk to that card. I have seen in the forums before a way to get a webcam to be viewed within sage, but you had to use another software program to filter it over. I forgot what it was called. The card I have I got on ebay for around 100, its a kodicom 4400 or something similar. The chips on the card hardware decode the video and audio. I am thinking people smarter than me could figure out how to make sage recognize the card as an 8 tuner card. |

I'm distributing two baby monitors over the Internet/CATV/SageTV using 3 capture cards and a video card with S-Video output.
The two receivers are plugged into two "el-cheapo" encoder cards and the signal is captured by VLC in both cases. The VLC output is accessible via an HTTP connection (vlc clients). On the capture server, I always have two VLC client windows opened and the S-Video output is routed to a $20 modulator. The output from the cable modulator is split off to separate TVs in the house and one of the outputs runs back into a Hauppauge PVR-350 where Save TV Server V5 acts as a network encoder. So on my V6 server, I've mapped that channel into my line up. The setup has been working great for over a year now. But, for whatever reason, probably unrelated, I have a memory leak somewhere in that computer and I have to schedule a reboot twice a day. But the client windows always pop up in the right places on the screen. Good luck! |
