Aspect ratio for HD-PVR recordings

I've had random recordings with my HD-PVR where sage thinks a 16x9 show is 4x3. I finally noticed that this happens when my cable box is tuned to a 4x3 channel when the recording starts and has to change channels to the 16x9 channel. Basically sage looks at the very beginning of the mpeg (or maybe the HD-PVR is at fault here) and picks up 4x3 because sage hasn't had a chance to change the channel on the cable box yet.

Is there a setting I can tweak to tell sage to wait X seconds into the recording before determining the aspect ratio?

You could try this property & set it to the number of milliseconds to wait before starting to record:

mmc/encoders/<some number>/delay_to_wait_after_tuning

But, I thought I saw the resolution change within a single channel & others said they did too, so it seems possible to tune into something that is different than the show to be recorded. I just set my STB to always output the same resolution.

I set my STB to output 1080i only. Sucks for loosing temporal resolution on 720p shows, but it's a trade-off I guess.
The delay didn't seem to work for me, it just changed the channel later too.
