MKV Anamorphic Aspect Ratio Problems
This is really weird. I've been working lately to rip my DVD's to MKV files. There are a few that I'd like to have with the original DTS audio. Handbrake does fine with AC3 pass-through but won't do the same with DTS. The files created directly from Handbrake work and play fine.
The problem comes when I use MkvMerge to mux the video created with Handbrake with the DTS audio I've demuxed from the DVD. The videos play fine but for some reason SageTV is seeing the aspect ratio as 1:1 even though VLC displays it properly and I can see the correct horiz and vert display size settings in the file. My understanding is that Handbrake takes an extra step and adds a piece of information to the file so that Quicktime will display anamorphic H.264 video in the correct aspect ratio. Anyone have any insight into how I can fix these files? This is rather annoying.
