Firewire recording plays on hardware extender, not placeshifter

I setup recording via firewire from my STB a couple of months ago, but had some stability issues, so I've disabled it until I could get back to troubleshoot.

I discovered this morning that <sometimes> when I try to watch a firewire-recorded MPEG2-TS file via placeshifter, I get a Sage error. I also can't view these files via VLC on the server (I get an "unknown file error" or something).

I had thought this meant a bad recording; however, I can watch them on either of my two hardware extenders (MVP & HD100).

Some files are viewable on both platforms (placeshifter and MVP/HD100) but some work just on the hardware extenders.

I hadn't fully tested this to ensure that it's not a spurilous correlation, but it's happened three or four times, so I'm at least wondering about it.

Any thoughts?

Try running the files through VideoReDo's quickstream fix, some players are not as forgiving about errors in the stream...

I don't suppose your recordings are catching a resolution change (480i/720p/1080i) at the start or end?
