Will a WinTV-500 and WinTV-1600 work together with SageTV?

Read an older post from 2007 saying that these two tuners do not work well together with SageTV. Any new info regarding this configuration appreciated.

Yes.
I have a wintv 500 and 2 hvr-1600s in my system. I'm running XP. If you run Linux or mac it may be a different story.

Thanks. I am using XP. The 1600 I ordered is coming in tomorrow. Hopefully it will be a smooth addition to my PC with an already installed 500.

I don't remember having any problems. At worst you might have to run the hcwclear program to remove all your cards and add them all at once. Personally, I'd try just throwing it in and seeing if it works, then fallback and punt if you run into problems.

Good luck, and remember that if you're going to try to tune QAM with the 1600, it's very picky about signal level, and make sure you get the latest drivers (not the ones on the CD that come). The newer drivers made the card more sensitive and makes them work better at lower signals. They're pretty much unusable for QAM with the stock drivers.

Do you remember which driver version you're using for the cards? Are you using a different set for each or the same one for both?

The Hauppauge website lists version 3.2 as being compatible for the 500 and 1600. However, there appears to be a newer version 3.4D1 but on that page, there's no mention of support for the 500 but just the 1600.

I haven't really touched my 500 drivers since I installed it. The 1600 drivers I'm running I got from a post on the forum hear a week or so after they updated it. I'm sure they have even newer drivers at this point, and if I were you, I'd run the latest you can find unless you have problems. If you have any problems let me know and I'll see if I can dig up the exact versions I have.

Got things up and running but the digital channels show up as "no data" so I don't know what program is being shown at what time without clicking on the channel to see.

Is this normal? Is there a way for the program data to show for the digital channels?

It should just show up. Did you select an existing linup, or create a completely custom one for the digital channels. Sounds like you may have created something completely custom and zap2it doesn't know what channels you're tuning.

The other thing to check is to go to zap2its website and see if they have a digital linup for your area.

For QAM setup that isn't an HDHR in Windows, you need to use the Remap option in Channep Setup, then choose "Map Different Station to this Physical Channel". That's how you get the QAM channels mapped to channels w/Zap2it EPG data.
