WinTV Nova T 500 & WinTV-NOVA T Stick problems

Hi,

I have a Nova-T-500 PCI (dual tuner) and a WinTV-NOVA-T-Stick Tuner which wont work with Sage correctly. I have read most of the forums now looking for an answer but havent come accross any solutions to my problem.

When using the Nova-T-500 only one tuner works 100% of the time (Nova-DT DVB-T Capture (Dev1 Path0) -0-DVB-T) the other tuner (Nova-DT DVB-T Capture (Dev1 Path1) -0-DVB-T) will work for a few hours and then will display the No TV Signal or just a black screen. Once this happens the second tuner will never work again until I restore an old image of Windows which Sage hasnt been installed on. Trying to remove and add the tuner again via the add tuner menu will also result in a No Signal message.

Using the NOVA T Stick just doesnt work at all, when adding the tuner via sage it just displays the message No Signal.

Both tuners work flawlessly with other apps inc. Media Portal so I can rule out hardware failure or incompatability issues.

My current setup is :
Windows Xp SP2
AMD Athlon 3200xp
2G ram
x800 xt
1.25Tb HDD storage

I've tried all the solutions I could find on these boards, also tried it with/without the BDA patch supplied on the Hauppauge setup disc. Updated all drivers for windows and hardware inc. motherboard.
Tried the tuners individually, together with anothe tuner etc. Tried them in another pc running Sage with the same problems. Once I find where to switch debug mode on again I'll attach the debug report.

Running out of ideas now, anyone else have any ideas or solutions?

Cheers

I use exactly this setup with a Nova T 500 pci and a WinTV-NOVA-T-Stick and all work fine.

I'm not sure what the issue is but I know that using the latest drivers from the hauppauge site this configuration should work.

Thanks for the reply At least I know now that my setup should work. What chipset do you use? Do you use xmltv or just a regular scan with Sgae for the TV channel lineup? Do you also use SageTV service?

I'm currently using a Nova T 500 pci (dual), Nova T (single) and 2 x PVR250. Everything works fine. (Except for the weak signal anyway)

I'm using the ones in the WinTV CD 3.4e1 (download from Hauppauge website) I just pointed windows at the Drivers folder from that CD image. Dont remember what driver I'm using for the single tuner Nova T, but it's quite old.

I do remember setting up the tuner with the service disabled but that shouldnt make any differance I'd have thought.

Do you mean chipset as in CPU or the chipset for the Nova tuners? CPU is a Pentium D 3.4, not sure what the Novas are though TBH.

I use Sage in TV service mode, although I wouldn't have though that would make any difference.

I use xmltv but it can be a bit fiddly to set up with DVB-T. I would definitely recommend getting it all setup without using xmltv to start by selecting 'Do not use program guide for this tuner' (or something like that). Then move onto linking it to your xmltv EPG with these these steps. I believe you need to scan at least once with all tuners.

Thankyou for the replys

I've got the nova t stick working now simply by replugging the usb into various slots until it worked. Strange to say the least but it worked.

The Nova t 500 dual tuner still refuses to let me use the second tuner. I've tried the new drivers and the ones supplied on the disc, plugged the card into diffrent pci slots to see if that works like it did for the usb stick. Still nothing but a No Signal message.

I'm currently using a via chipset which I've read isnt very good for multiple tuners. Anyone know if this correct?

Also had ScanChannelsBDA_UK test the cards and they all recieve a signal with most of the available channels. However the 1st tuner has a 60% quality rating and the 2nd tuner a 40% quality rating. The nova t stick gets 100% quality.
All leads run via a 1 to 4 signal booster so I was assuming that the quality should be exactly the same arcross all the cards but that isnt the case.

I'm thinking of dumping the card now and getting the supported Pinnacle PCTV Dual DVB-T Pro PCI instead, which will hopefully work out of the box. Anyone else have one of these cards which their not happy with?

Cheers

Funnily enough I had this issue with only one of the Nova T tuners working with an earlier version of Sage but it's all been good with the 6.2x range.
