Question NZ: XMLTV and WinTV Nova-T 500

Hi all,

Are there any Kiwis out there who can share their experiences of getting XMLTV data for New Zealand free-to-air stations? At this point, I'm really only wondering about the main stations - TV1, TV2, TV3, Prime, etc. Not worried about Sky, although if that's also available, it'd be good to know.

Also, I've been looking at the introduction of digital TV to NZ, but detailed info is a bit thin on the ground. I gather it's currently available if you're already a digital satellite subscriber, and that there are plans to introduce the a DVB-T (terrestrial) transmission in May. However, there was an article in the Herald about limiting the set top box providers to those that include MHEG-5 interativity compliance.

Does anyone know whether this would prevent a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T 500 from working in NZ? Anyone using any of the Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T series in NZ?

I can't see why the Nova-T 500 would have any problems, but if anyone knows otherwise, it'd be good to find out now

Cheers
Buzzy

I would be interested to know this to. I have a satelite freeview box connected to a pvr500. For the xmltv data I use xmltvnz from reven.co.nz. Was wondering if it was possible to get the epg data directly from the satelite feed?

Buzzy, the MHEG-5 middleware is only for the "incredible" interactive features that they are going to offer. For just straight recording, you don't need it. The implementation here will be identical to the Freeview rollout in the UK.

A good place to go for more card specific info is the Hauppauge UK forums. I certainly plan to get a Nova-T 500 as soon as the local distributor has them available.
