Ordering Directv What STB do I want?

I am finally converting over to Directv and ditching my cable.

My current plan is to have 1 HD DVR box directly connected to the TV, then 3 SD STBs to my sage box.

I am using a USB-UIRT right now and am happy with it.

My question is what EXACTLY do I need to tell them to make sure I don't get boxes with RF remotes?

If you want SD, go out to e-Bay and pick you up 3 Sony SAT-B3s. You can get them for $10 a piece. You'll have to get new cards from DirecTV. SageTV can control them natively via serial cables.

1) None of the DirecTV SD receivers ship with RF remotes. All of them come with IR remotes only.

2) What you tell DirecTV is really not gonna make any difference, you are going to get what they have. The current SD receiver model is the D12-300 and that's what you are gonna get.

3) You do not need to buy any special receivers, the D12-300's can also be natively controlled via serial cable. Search the forums for more info on controlling directv receivers with serial cable.
