SageTv 6 and client on same machine
Can the SageTv the server and the client run on the same machine ? if so then how can this be done.
Seems like the server uninstalls oin the client version is installed. We want to try some trouble shooting and this is way we want to do this.

Yes, the server and client can be used on the same machine. I previously did this on one of my clients because it contained a tuner card - i ran out of pci slots on the server. You only need to purchase one server license to run both the client & server instance on one machine.
Start a normal sagetv instance as the server..... then copy a shortcut onto your desktop and change target to add "-client". "Appendix G: Network Encoding" in the SageTV pdf manual explains the steps in detail.
