HELP! Firewire not working after reinstall
I made a new windows home server today. reinstalled sage, added the exemultitunerplugin.dll, added 1.ir file for the stb. I can change channels at the command prompt, but sage wont do it.
i also added the registry key. i have to use the -f or channels dont change. i used the successfully in the last server. it seems the sage is not calling the channel.exe. I have my hd pvr set to use multitunerexe tuner 1, as my ir file is 1.ir Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\Common\EXEMultiTunerPlugin] "command"="c:\\stb\\channel.exe -f %DEVICE% %CHANNEL%" please help! WAF is definitely not good right now!

are you sure that its device 1 that changes the channels. I know with my two stb setup, its device 3 and 4 that changes the channels.
can you post the output for the channel command?

not trying to be a jerk, but what directory is the EXEMultiTuner in?
what directory is the .ir file in? did you change in the properties file device_name=StubDevice todevice_name=1?

also, i am searching like a banshee. i see references that i may need to change the service to interact with the desktop or try it in non-service mode. how do i do that and is it necessary?

while viewing this in regedit, should the path be in quotes
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\Common\EXEMultiTunerPlugin] "command"="c:\\stb\\channel.exe -f %DEVICE% %CHANNEL%" im conviced the problem is that sage is not calling the registry entry for the command. everything looks in order.

my registry is channelw.exe, not channel.exe. And page 3 of Meinmaui's STB Firewire Channel PDF is channelw.exe.
Why don't you edit the registry to add w to channel. I have a feeling that is the problem.

actually, i got it. it was related to the service allowing interaction with the desktop. a restart was needed, not just restarting the service. im back up and running. channel works fine for me, i had that on the last setup too. thanks for assisting!

glad you figured it out. I meant to ask you if you restarted the computer. I was probably hesitant because I always hate when tech support says that.
I know how valuable the WAF is!!! Actually, I find it funny that people prefer BTV over STV because my WAF went up when I switched from BTV to STV from a UI stand point.
