How to debug sudden freezing on both (all) extenders?
I have a single server that I use for CQC, SageTV. It's got a crapload of stuff running on it.
SageTV has always been solid, but suddenly both extenders will freeze or not playback correctly if I watch a show then stop. I did muck around with another server, but not this one. I'm not too good with network stuff, which I suspec this is. How would I go about debugging why this is suddenly happening? |

Just curious.
What firmware version is your HD100 running? And what version of SageTV on your server? Is this with any content or specifically with SD, HD or HD-PVR (h.264)? |

Andy - can you move this to the SageTV Beta Software forum? More info here, looks like it's *not* a media extender issue rather either a SageTV service or general beta wackiness issue.
I'm on beta 20080604 for firmware, 6.4.4 for SageTV. Its with any content, almost. See below. Before blindly upgrading to the latest versions, i'd like to post this to see there's any reason for me to think that will work. I did some more tests, turns out my server and one HTPC also have playback issues. I literally never use those machines now that I have 2 HD-100's. I disabled Service Mode, now I *can* watch on any client, but... 1) only one client can be connected at a time. As soon as I even power on a 2nd HD-100 (even leaving in standby mode) or startup SageTVClient, it all goes wacky. 2) It seems that recordings in the past week-ish (ever since the behavior started) are problematic to render. The most common problem is that they playback normal, but the timeline appears to move ahead 3-5minutes per second, thereby ending a 30min program in 10seconds. |

No, the beta is closed. I suggest upgrading to the release versions of SageTV and the firmware because a lot of things have changed since your version. And, if you contact SageTV, that's what they'll ask you to do anyway.

ah, ok then, I've been away for a week, didn't realize it went GA.
Makes sense, will do. |
