Configuration Wizard Woes

After several years of succesfully running Sage TV on an older computer, I bought a new HP to serve as a tuner box/media server. It's running Vista 64 bit, which my old computer was doing quite happily as well. When I try to install Sage on the new computer, however, it gets hung during the Configuration Wizard (!?) at the "Select Country" screen. After I select a country, I'm sent momentarily to the language select screen, but the wizard almost immediately dumps me back to the select country screen. No matter how many times I select a country, I get sent back to the select country screen after a second or two. I can close Sage, but when I reopen it the Wizard pops back up on the same screen and with the same problem. I've uninstalled Sage, nuked the SageTV file, rebooted and reinstalled, all to no effect; when I first fire Sage up, I'm immediately sent to (and stuck on) the select country screen. This happens with both 6.3.10 and 6.4.4 beta.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Do you have a wireless keyboard? If so, try disconnecting it. I've heard of people having a problem where the Home key was being sent all the time for some reason, resulting in the first config wizard menu being loaded constantly.

Thanks!

That was (almost) it -- my wireless keyboard was fine, but I replaced the wireless mouse and now all is well. Thanks a lot!

Thumbs down Install help.....

Hi,

I hve just bought a new computer.

I was going through the instructions to move my previous install from the old to the new computer when i got problems.

I installed Sagetv on the new computer, but it will not let me complete the wizard.

I can select my country, my language and some times the server etc, but it keeps fliping back to the country selection screen at random times.
I sometime can get further and sometime i cannot get past the country selection before it flips back to the start of the wizard.

It is almost as if someone is pressing back on the remote. ( Yet it makes no difference if i have set up my remote or not).

I am convinced that i have done something wrong, and i hope that someone here has had this before.

Please tell me where i am going wrong!

Thanks,

Bob

Smile Thanks

I find it both wonderful and frustrating at the same time.!!!!!!!!!!!!

Frustrating that i struggle for 2 hours tryong to get it to work.

Wonderful that when i eventually give in and ask, i get the answer almost straight away.

YES, i had a wireless mouse involved and it was screwing me up badly.

Many thanks for your help..

If i would only admit to myself that i know less that most, i could save more of my time@

Thanks.

Bob

SO....does this still apply? I too am having this problem. Is Sage incapable of working with wireless mice and keyboards?

That would be a shame

thanks

I don't know what the problem is with certain wireless keyboards nor what else would cause it. I suggest checking with support.

so...the problem isn't being caused by either the mouse or keyboard....the home, or return command, seems to keep being sent no matter what hardware is attached. Any thoughts are helpful

thanks

I'm experiencing the same behavior. Appears to be no pattern to when it occurs. I'll be watching TV and it bails out to the home menu.
