Recorded shows automatically deleted?

Hi All,

Hope someone can help me here. I have had sage 4 since the release with no problems whatsoever. I don't make any changes to the software, just record and watch. Lately my favorites haven't been recording. I have checked a time when they are supposedly recording and the red rec button shows up at the top. Also I can manually record a show with no problems. Any ideas?

Oh and I tried to download and reinstall but the exe from sages site says not a valid win32 application?!?!

What version of Sage? How much drive space do you have available? If there's not enough drive space Sage will delete shows automatically to create more space. And if there is not enough space it could miss recording a show.

Is it truly 28 GB or do you have something like Norton Protected Recycle Bin that will keep the files stored on the hard drive so you don't actually have as much space as you think you have?

You mentioned Sage 4, is it 4.1.3, 4.1.4, or 4.1.5? I have seen something similar happen in 4.1.5. I was not there to verify that the record button was on but it did not record several favorites one night until it was rebooted. Reboot fixed issues but I have since rolled back to 4.1.4 for now.

I am not totally sure which .version it is. It just says version 4 when you start it up. I got an email from sage a couple months ago about the release and I downloaded it. I think I had 2.2 before. I'm sorry I don't mess with the program enough to know. All I know is I pay for a program it should work flawlessly all the time especially since I haven't made any changes to it since I started using it. What provokes a program to change it's behavior?

The version number is on the Setup -> System Info screen. You can also see how much "Available Video Diskspace" SageTV thinks it has.

Are the new recordings on the drive? If so, use the Options command on the SageTV Recordings screen & make sure no filter is active. (It is possible to choose to not list favorites.)

How much space is SageTV allowed to use in Detailed Setup -> General -> Video Recording Dirs? If it is using all it can use, then it will delete files as needed to make space -- do you have a lot of Manual Recordings or Favs that aren't allowed to be deleted automatically? If nothing else is allowed to be deleted, the new recording might go first.

I've had some wierdness in 4.1.5 too. Lost some recordings on the upgrade, and Desperate HW's didn't record (or was deleted) Sunday on my only HD channel. 100's of gigs of space available.

It was the first release of version 4. I went back to 2.2 and it is working but I really liked the interface on version 4. The new recordings aren't anywhere on the drive and system setup shows 28 gigs of available space. I tried to use the latest release but the interface comes up all garbled. Does anyone know where I can get version 4.0 again?

As I mentioned to someone in another thread, you can try the latest beta and make sure debug_logging=TRUE (exactly like that) is in the sage.properties file before starting SageTV. Maybe the debug log (sagetv_0.txt) will have info on what is happening.

Try turning off 3D Acceleration via this property while SageTV isn't running:

ui/accelerated_rendering=false

It turns off the use of DirectX to draw the interface. You may need to update your video card drivers and/or DirectX.
