Very sluggish UI

Hi

I am new to Placeshifter and is currently evaluating a trial license. I noticed that when I use it over the internet the UI interactions are very very slow, including things such as entering username, password characters. I can understand streaming performance issues, but why are basic interactions so slow ? My server at home is running on a Win 2K box and PS on a Win XP laptop with dual core 2.0 GHz CPU and 2GB RAM. When I use it over home LAN the UI performance is much faster, but why are basic UI interactions depending on network performance? Today I disabled most of the animation options, but did not see whole lot of improvment in remote usage. It almost feels like there is screen scraping going on instead of the client UI actually running on my laptop. I would appreciate some advice very much.

Correct. The UI runs on the server and only the screen updates are remoted to your client. (SageTVClient runs the UI locally on the client, but doesn't work over the Internet.)

Do you have 3D acceleration enabled in Placeshifter?

Depending on what sort of graphics chip your laptop has, various UI effects like alpha blending should work better (and perhaps faster) with 3D acceleration enabled.
