HD Recording

I'm sure this been answered many times but quick searching doesn't yield the answer.

I have Comcast cable and am running v6.3 of SageTV. If I get an HD capable card, for example the Hauppauge 1600, I believe the only HD shows I can record from Comcast are those that are sent unscrambled (not sure if that's the correct word), is that true?

The tuners that can tune/record QAM are only going to be able to access the clear channels that are not encrypted, which varies by cable system.

You still need a box for all other channels. The new Hauppauge HD PVR can be used to record any channels via component connections to the box, including the HD channels.
