Stupid NVidia Decoder question.
Okay...this is gonna sound awfully noobish...but, I can't get the Nvidia Purevideo system tray settings to show up inside of SageTV, so I can't tweak the decoder settings easily. The only way I can access them right now is to also have GBPVR installed, have NVidia selected there, and then I can get into the settings using GBPVR. Am I missing something here? I have the Nvidia decoder set as the default video decoder using the XP video decoder checkup utility, and have Sage TV set up to use Nvidia as its decoder. Should I have it set as default inside of Sage instead? Should I have Windows default to a different codec, and then have Sage point to Nvidia specifically? I am not sure how I have to have it set so that the Nvidia settings appear when I am watching TV inside of Sage. I don't want to keep GBPVR on my machine just to access the Nvidia settings.
I want to adjust the Nvidia deinterlacing settings, specifically. While the decoder handles 720p flawlessly, I did notice that whatever settings it was at it could not handle 1080i without massive interlacing problems, especially during sports. IE, local NBC affiliate displayed the Stanley Cup finals in 1080p, and it really had issues deinterlacing the signal. It got so bad I ended up watching the Red Wings on standard def TV rather than the HD signal, because the interlacing problems made it unwatchable. |

Didn't help. Have Nvidia selected as the preferred decoder using the checkup utility, changed it to default in Sage TV, still didn't show up.

What version of Sage? There was a bug in the Sage installer a couple of versions back that would erroneously install the Sage decoder at a high priority that DecCheck wasn't able to detect or fix, preempting the default decoder. Here's a thread on that issue and various workarounds:
