Mac remote control options
I'm thinking of building a Mac client, since I'm having timeline issues on Vista/XP from Mac firewire recordings. Other than the Apple Remote (which is not that great), what other choices do I have?

Take a look here: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...remote+control
Seems like USBUIRT is the way to go if you don't want to use the Apple remote. Apple's remote can be programmed by other universal remotes too. B

I use a [wireless] mouse, an iPod Touch and an iPhone. The latter 2 are jailbroken and connect via VNC.

Is anyone running Mac client or server with a remote? It's not clear that USB-UIRT can be run on the Mac or how it might be configured with Sage.
I would like to use an old powerbook as an extender for the bedroom TV, but I'm not sure how I would be able to control it remotely. Ian |

I programmed a small portable Bluetooth keyboard as my remote. Works like a charm. BONUS: I still use it as my keyboard!
This is great if you've got something similar, but IS quite an expensive remote if you either don't already have one to task to the job or don't have any other uses for it. FYI: The keyboard I'm using is the Frogpad, which is pretty expensive. But I think there are other cheaper options out there. I also put little stickers on my keyboard to make it easier to know which keys to press for what. Steve |

i went with this:
http://www.keyspan.com/products/urm15t/ it isnt great, but 100% better than the apple remote. i was able to program keystrokes, and set them up in Sage. The one large limitation is the 17 buttons. I use the IR receiver in conjunction with a Harmony 696, so i was able to use all 17 buttons on the keyspan remote for Sage functions rather than needing to keep volume, etc reserved (the Harmony is set up to control my tv and audio receiver). It has been working well for the past week.
