hd100 sloowwwwww interface
I just got my hd100 last week, and it works for the most part. I am having the same audio issues as everyone else. But what really irks me is that the interface is slow. ie i am looking at my recordings menu, and i have about 200 movies in there. It takes for ever to scroll using either the down arrow, or the chan up down.
anyone else seen this? |

What version of Java is installed & in use on your SageTV server?
You can check which version SageTV is using by going to the SYstem Information screen -- use Info while on the Main Menu for quick access to that screen. - Andy

Is viewing the system information page on a client/extender good enough. I run sage as a service. Add remove programs shows 6 update 5 as my java version. The version on my client is 1.6.0_05
And to the other question about network speed: the hd100 is 10/100 plugged into a gige switch with all my other mvps and my sage box. |

I've never had troubles with the recordings menu being slow, but I was having trouble with the imported videos menu being slow. Paging through the movies was painful until I resized the cover art files to be closer to the actual number of pixles they take up on my display. Now it is much faster and very reasonable paging through the movies.

I also have unsupported feature and malore menus turned on. My mvps are rocking fast, so i dont think that its those features. i think the hd100 is just slower, for whatever reason. I tried the firmware update and it said none found by the way.

As long as the HD100's System Info shows Java v1.6.0_05, you should be fine in that regard.
See what happens when using the default STV w/o any customizations or hidden features enabled -- how does the regular recordings menu work when the hidden extras have been turned off via the System Info screen? - Andy

One of these days I'll try switching my HD100 to SageMC, and see if the Malore plugin for that is any more bearable. -Chris

I use SageMC as the interface and can agree that the Videos scrolling is extremely painful (my folders are 50~100K JPegs 350x500 pixels). The Recordings I believe is relatively zippy.

I started having issues with slow response on the Videos menus when I added a bunch of ripped DVDs. I increased the Java heap size and things are much better. If you haven't done it, you may want to give this a try Increase Heap Size.

Try the tip from this page.
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?p=280489 It may or may not help. It worked wonders for my 400+ movie database

I'm sure you have done it already, but make sure you have the latest firmware on the HD100. There was a fix for this in one of the last firmware updates.
Well I should say a fix for this exact type thing that made the scrolling more like the mvp's. |
