MVP Audio Advice

As many of you know the audio output of the Hauppauge Media MVP is pretty lackluster when hooked directly to a TV. At the same time, the sound isn’t terrible when hooked up to a descent home theater receiver through digital coax.

Right now I have a MVP hooked up in the master bedroom to an SD TV in which I need to crank the TV volume way up to get audible sound, sound that isn’t great anyway. I’ve contemplated purchasing a HTIB as a solution… I don’t really want to go that route for sake of convenience, cost and not running wires all over and such.

I’ve been exploring the option of using PC speakers that I can directly hook up to the MVP as a way of circumventing the TV speakers altogether to achieve descent quality sound.

I found a pair of Klipsh PC speakers http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16836119107 that I think might do the trick.

Do you think these will work to get better volume and higher quality sound out of my MVP?

Any advice, considerations, or input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If your stereo outputs out of the MVP are bad - have you checked that you have the MVP volume all the way up?

I have 5 MVPs (only 3 work now, other 2 replaced by HD Extender) and don't remember too many problems with them hooked up to TVs. Mine are relatively new... not sure if they've changed anything along the way.

To answer your question, unless your PC speakers are getting the audio signal via the coax (unlikely), you're going to have the same problem you do now. A low volume output out of the MVP will always yield to having to turn up the volume too high on whatever you are playing it through. You will hear background hiss and flat music.

Check to make sure MVP volume is turned up before you try changing anything.

I keep the MVP volume maxed. Good point about the stereo outputs I’ll test them on another TV sans a receiver and see what happens. Thanks!
