Placeshifter v. Client v. Media Extender
Hello everyone - can someone provide a brief description re: the differences between Placeshifter and Sage Client? Also, if I plan on having extenders on each TV, do i even need either application?

One place to start is this FAQ: What is the difference between SageTV Client and Placeshifter?.
If all you are using are extenders, then you don't need SageTVClient -- the server PC can run its own UI. You may find Placeshifter to be useful to connect back to your SageTV server while away from home & it can be used when one of the extenders is not active. - Andy

What if we add a laptop to the equation? For example, my wife brings out her laptop to the patio and wants to watch recorded programming or DVD from the computer with SageTV installed. Would the Sage Client be needed in this scenario?
