Unhappy Guide Data issues, multiple Line-ups

First, I should clarify that, though I've used Sage before, this is a fresh install, just performed tonight.

I have two different problems. 1st, my guide data is incomplete. The guide data is only showing up for most of my channels until about 8-10AM tomorrow. This makes it impossible for me to set up my favorites. I've tried restarting Sage several times, and according to the "Help" page, it is getting EPG updates each time, but I'm not seeing data further out than tomorrow morning.

My second problem is related to multiple line-ups. From searching the forum about this topic, I understand that I can't have two tuners using the same lineup, but with one tuner being unable to tune some channels, etc. and that I would need two different lineups. No problem, as for my town there is a "Analog" lineup, a "Digital" lineup, and then a "Local" lineup, which includes both the SD and HD stations.

I have a HDHR hooked to two different antennas. One Antenna is UHF and picks up a local VHF HD station poorly. Another antenna is a VHF/UHF antenna that picks up the VHF station well, but the UHF stations not quite as well as the UHF antenna. I end up with one local HD station that each tuner can get significantly better than the other. Besides that, the rest of the channels are of very good quality.

So, I set up two Lineups.. My first HDHR tuner gets the "Digital" lineup, and the second HDHR tuner gets "Local Broadcast", which includes both the Analog and the Digital stations. I've de-selected all the Analog stations from the "Local Broadcast" lineup so that they are essentially equal, but in the Guide, I have duplicate channels for the channels that both antennas are equally good at picking up. For example, I have two of the local FOX affiliate channels listed, with exactly the same data listed. (Except, I have this problem for pretty much all of my stations, so I have lots of duplicates) How can I hide this "duplicate" entry, or am I stuck with the same channels listed twice? Can't Sage just "know" that these stations are the same, so only list them once but know that both tuners can get them?

Thanks,
Paul

50 people have read this and no one has any suggestions (or even scathing comments ) to either of my issues???

Did I put too many details in, boring everyone to sleep before they got to my questions?

To give more details, I'm still only getting EPG data about 12 hours ahead of the current time... (I've not left Sage running all the time, though)

Double check these ports are open at a minimum.

Longer answer... SageTV may need up to three different ports opened in your firewall:
7760 - This port must be opened for SageTV to be able to download EPG data so that you can see show listings on the LiveTV Guide menu.

42024 - If you plan to use SageTV Client with SageTV, then this port needs to be opened so that the client & server can talk to each other.

7818 - When SageTV (server) streams media to SageTV Client, this is the port that is used. i.e.: This port has to be open in order to watch recordings on the client.

8000 - This port is only used on a Linux installation of SageTV in order to contact SageTV for license activation.
Reboot your server.

And leave SageTV up and running until tomorrow.

I'm not blocking any outbound ports.

I've also installed the latest beta for Mac on my iMac and it doesn't have either issue... I have lots of EPG data and my channels aren't duplicated there...

I haven't rebooted yet.. Once the show that is currently recording is done, I'll reboot and see what I get...

If I'm not mistaken outbound and inbound would need to be open for the EPG.

Since you are talking about OTA: look at the details for a show -- what does the show ID start with? I think it is EPG data from the OTA digital stream if it starts with DT. If that is the case, then either some of those channels are not available for SageTV to have access to Zap2it's listings (discussed in another topic in this forum section) or the channels haven't been mapped to ones that match up to channels for which SageTV can get Zap2it's EPG data.

Edit: Oh, and what version of SageTV is this? At one point, SageTV would use the stream's EPG data instead of the Zap2it data... I think.

I'm using 6.3.10 and I think I solved the issue.. Reboot didn't help, but here's what I did, in case anyone else has this issue:

I uninstalled and re-installed.. After that, I let it scan for the stations again on both tuners. Then, I noticed that several of my local stations only showed up once in the EPG and they all had data out beyond the 11-12 hour range. There were also several channels that were duplicated in the EPG. At the 11-12 hour point, one of them had no data, but the other had lots more. I noticed that the one without data had -DT at the end of the station letters.. (Like WAWS-DT), but the one with data didn't have a dash.. (Like WAWSDT). In the channel setup, both WAWS-DT and WAWSDT were listed. The one that Sage had assigned the channel to (in the case of the non-working ones) was the entry with the -DT on the end. I Remapped the station to the entries without the Dash, and now I have a single entry in the EPG and have all the EPG data.

So, I'm guessing that somehow Sage picked the stations up with the dash between the call letters and DT... On the second scan, it picked them up correctly in most cases, so there were only about 3 stations I had to fix. (But, I had enough information to pinpoint the problem this time!)
