Catastrophic C:/ Drive failure

Unfortunately my c drive died. I lost some files and naturally my Sage installation. I replaced the drive and did a clean install of windows. It seems some of the attached hard drives with folders for sage recordings were assigned new drive letters in the process.

After setting up Sage with these new recording directories, the recordings are not showing up in Sage even though they are still on the drives (along with other EDL files).

Is there anyway to fix the file associations so they show-up in Sage Recordings?

I’ve looked through the FAQ’S and have spent hours trying to reconfigure my old settings-I’m pretty fried.

Do you have a copy of wiz.bin from the old installation? If not, there is no data to match those recordings to & you should look into keeping backups of that database file in the future.

If you do have wiz.bin, then some settings to try are in this topic: FAQ: How to move files, change recording dirs, etc..

As Opus stated, if you lost your wiz.bin they will not show up under "recordings"....however, you can at least get to them if you also point your media center directories to them and at least you can watch them as "imported videos".

I do have my old wiz.bin

I just reread the post you referred to Andy.
My old Setup had multiple HDs labeled Z,Y,X...
with the fresh install, windows relabeled them from D,E,F ---

Will the advanced_file_detection properties be able to sort this out (fingers crossed)?

Unrecognized videos in recording dirs will also be imported, so there would be no need to make them import dirs too.

That's the property I would try, provided you are using the current release version - v6.3.10. You may need to use wiz.bin from the time of the crash instead of one that was restored & in use since then.

Did you know that you can change the driver letter designation of a drive? There may be an easier way to get to it, but you can right click on My Computer, choose Manage -> Disk Management, right click on a drive, then choose Change Drive Letter. You may or may not want to do this, depending on whether the current drive letter layout has become important.

I have about 6 or 7 drives; I Know I can rename them. Problem is I'm not 100% certain which Sage recording directory was associated with each drive.

I'll give the try once I get home.
