I was hoping ripped DVD playback would be possible with this new mac client. Any chance this option will be included?

My first attempt at installing the beta didn't go so well.

I first turned off the Sage service in System Preferences, and then renamed all of the Sage folders in my Applications folder and Library/Application Support folder. After dragging the new beta from the disc image to the Application folder, I opened it but Sage would not take my license key, and when I decided to just go with the new 30-Day Trial, Sage finally seemed to open in the finder and dock, but no interface opened up.

I reverted back to earlier SageTV folders I had archived for just this reason, and then on tech support's instructions I dumped the SageTVServer.pkg in the Library/Receipts folder. This forced Sage into a full install mode next time I opened it. After the install, all of my channel scan info showed up intact. Unfortunately, my 110GB worth of existing recordings did not show up in the recordings menu, but for some reason they *did* show up in the video library. My program guide data still has not updated at this time. I'm suspecting I might need to dump and reimport my video tuner.

(** In fact, deleting my tuner in video setup, and then reimporting actually jogged Sage enough to immediately import all of the correct program data for my broadcast area and fill up my program guide. - MB)

The Holy Grail would be to figure out how to do an install of SageTV while still keeping all of my SageMC and dynamic menu tweaks.

Has anybody installed 6.4.0 and had a chance to evaluate the video playback quality of the new renderer? I tried playing back known good existing recordings from my previous SageTV version 6.3.5, and they looked very jerky in the new beta.

Since the video rendering started working I'm now loving it. At least with Placeshifter the video is now rendered with the proper black/white levels. Meaning no more dark grey bars or washed out picture.

When you say "at least with Placeshifter," does that mean that you have not tried video playback any other way?

The only licenses I have that will work on the Mac are my extender/placeshifter licenses. I don't have a Mac client license.

Sandor, are you using Client, Placeshifter, or basic SageTV (on the same machine)?

The reason I ask is because other users are getting different results depending on how their rig is configured. Some are reporting that the latest Mac release of Client plays perfectly without any stuttering, while the video playback with the newest SageTV basic release stutters so badly on my mini I rolled back to Mac SageTV ver 6.3.5. I have also heard reports similar to yours that PS playback also worked fine.
