Any news on the MAC beta front?

I've been testing the MAC beta 6.3.5 for a few weeks now, and keep seeing more Windows and Linux beta releases come out, but nothing for MAC. Any ETA on a new beta for us lowly MAC users?

There'll be a new one soon (coming weeks) and we've completely redone the rendering system on the Macintosh for it as well to greatly improve performance.

Thanks for that update! Unfortunately my trial of MAC ends in 4 days, guess I will switch back to my windows licenses for now (running inside VMWare).

No menu screens on beta v6.3.3 or v6.3.5

Worked fine with v6.2.10 but it didn't recognize my HD Homerun

I'm trying this on an underpowered first generation MacMini 1.25 Ghz G4 with only 256M --OS 10.5.2

Even with the black window on the beta versions it still works with my HD Extender--go figure.

I'd like to confirm it was working before investing any more $ on the Mac side.

Narflex, any news on specific release date of a new Macintosh beta with improved rendering performance, as it's been dragging on? Thanks.

Mac License

Andy, or other Sage people.....

What do you recommend we do for licensing while evaluating on the Mac? I have 7 or 8 licenses for windows - and am testing to see if I can move to the mac on some systems. But I use HD - and had problems with the last version. Now that we are a month later - I am sure the eval license will have expired. I am also sure others are in this same boat. Is there another way to request an eval license that will let the new version work for a period when it ships?

Thanks,

Tim

I was told the next MAC beta is going to reset the 30 day trial limit.

So, any new news on the Mac version of SageTV? I keep on seeing "any time now" but have yet to actually see anything newer than 6.3.5.

When????????

I have also been patiently waiting since November. I have never been able to get my sage to work at all. It's been collecting dust ever since I bought it. I somehow suspect it will never work... mac users aren't important, I guess

The Mac beta finally did go into the private beta testers hands a few days ago; so it should be public next week.

yay!

i think i am mere weeks away from a full transition from my current Windoze XP server to an OS X server... my clients are currently all Macs, though hopefully in the coming months they will become wireless HD extenders...

Technical Problems

They are trying to match the quality of playback of the Mac OS VLC media player and I think they must be having lots of technical issues. VLC is open source so they could theoretically look at the source code to see how it is achieved. But perhaps it is harder since MPlayer has been the underlying player of SageTV and maybe it is not up to the task on Macintosh.

These are all speculations as I have no info other than support confirming that VLC is their quality benchmark.

Isn't mplayer the underlying player for VLC as well?

VLC doesn't use mplayer - completely different core. If the Sage folks are indeed using VLC, this is a big step in the right direction, IMO.

Still waiting to be able to finally use my 6 month old SageTV for my mac. I bought it in November, and it has never been able to work. Can you give us an actual date??? Or should I just get a refund and take my business elsewhere?? The complete lack of communication on Sage's part is pitifull!
