HD Extender without tuners ?

Would it be possible to run Sage without tuners ? I gave an extensive movie and DVD collection and would like to use the extender for playback of those files without installing a tuner. I think with this configuration I just loose access to Live TV and recorded shows, which I don't need at this TV.

You only need to do that if you want guide data without a tuner, that wouldn't be necessary to utilize the media portions of Sage.

It's been a long time since I set that up on my development system. Does SageTV allow you to bypass the initial tuner setup now? Thanks.

Aloha,
Mike

Aloha,

Thanks for the link. I'm assuming that this only works with a windows (not Linux install)

Yep, it does. I ran it for a few weeks with no tuner and no fake tuner. Worked great for DVDs and MP3.

I am running on Linux without any tuner and no extra work is necessary (no need to setup fake tumer or nothing). I am using it for all my music, all my movies and pictures + lots of online video watching. You can find exact steps I used to set it up using CentOS under the Linux section.

Thank you - for reference, I believe that this is the thread that you are referring to:

Now I just need to wait for the extender to come back in stock. May just install CentOS this weekend to get it out of the way
