HD Extender to non-HD TV

I intend on purchasing an extra HD Extender (soon, right?) for a TV in my bedroom that is currently not HD, but (hopefully soon) will be replaced with one. For now, I will have the extender connected to it via either composite or S-video.

My question is, does anyone have this setup, and, if so, what does it do to the picture if you are recording 16:9 HD programs on your HTPC, and trying to watch them on a 4:3 SD TV? Does the HD Extender know that a signal going out of the composite or S-video jack has to be converted to SD 4:3, and does it do so? Are there any problems/issues I should expect, trying to watch on an old 4:3 SD tube TV?

Thanks!

I currently have a regular SDTV connected via Svid to my HD Extender and it works great. Basically any HD recordings get letterboxed to fit to the 4:3 screen. You can use the zoom options to expand out SD programs that have been pillarboxed into HD. In fact, zoomed pillarboxed SD programs look excellent on my SDTV. Much sharper than the 480i digital recordings that come off my HDHR.

I am eventually going to get an HDTV. Most likely by the end of the year if not much sooner. But for the time being I'm happy with my HD Extender through my SDTV.

HD Extender will work on any tv. It also has the ability to play several different formats of video without putting a strain on your Sage server.

There are only three things in my opinion that would make it better:
1) Make a better universal remote or support MCE remotes
2) Add keyboard support
3) Add BluRay support either internally or via USB port
