Audio missing from random channels
Either in a recording or during live TV, there's no audio, the video is fine. This problem occurs across all channels, but only randomly. I'll view a channel and it will have no audio. I'll go to the next channel and maybe the same problem. I'll go back to the first channel and the audio may or may not be present.
This has been happening to a few recordings over the last 2 months. Today it seems to be worse, almost 9 out of 10 channels have no audio. I've cycled through all of the Audio & Video Renders and decoderss including VMR9. Power DVD and Hauppauge are the only non-default audio & video choices. I've reloaded the media player. Playing the file back with Power DVD or Windows Media Player 11 also produces no sound. I've never had this problem before I installed SageTV version 6.3.9.5. WMP 11 is also relatively new on the system. I've reloaded the EPG by both toggling a channel and reloading the EPG. I also tried a previous Sageproperties file and wiz.bin. My next step is to install WinTV and try to rule out SageTV, and finally install nVideo Purevideo. Anybody have any ideas? Occasionally, after FF'ing or REW'ing, when I resume playback, I have no audio. I hit "pause" and then "play" again, and the audio comes right back. Since discovering that all I have to do is pause and play, this has been such a minor nuisance that I haven't bothered to look for a reason or a solution. It has cured my "no audio" problem every time.
Don't know if this cures your problem, but you could give it a shot....

I originally had some older Hauppauge Drivers. I think maybe they conflicted with the new SageTV 6.3.9.5. I cleaned out all of the Hauppauge software, loaded the lastest drivers, and the audio problem went away.
But this created a new problem. Only on channels 28-53 with basic cable, when I record on both my 150 and 350, the 150 recordings have a huge amount of static. Same problem if I record on one and watch on the other. One at a time, and they are both fine. I go to a channel less than 28 or greater than 53, and everythings ok. Wierd. I'm going to change back to my old Hauppauge drivers or maybe an older version of SageTV and see what happens. I tried to play/pause/play and it didn't work. |
