I've got a somewhat related problem, one I had before and fixed but don't remember how I did it.
When installing the client on a 2nd machine it tells me I can only use the license key once. I get that, I have a server license, and 2 client licenses. I think what's happening is the 2nd client machine is trying to use the license that's being used on the first client machine. No matter what I try, I can't get the 2nd client to ask for the lic key, it just defaults to the warning message about a duplicate key. I'm sure it's something simple, but I just don't recall what it was. TIA * split to its own topic * |

If you moved the license from one system to another then you need to restart the sage server.
If you entered the wrong license in the second client, then see page 213 of the current sage manual.

Ok, I've restarted the server multiple times - in fact, I think that's what solved the problem last time - but it doesn't help this time. I've even deleted the full Sage program on No. 2 but it hasn't helped. No.2 had it running previously until I did a fresh OS install on No1, I think that shutoff No.2.
Pg 213 of the manual I have, is the beginning of Chap 7 - FAQs. Page 212 talks about ports. There is no FW on No.2, and it was working previously on this same machine. Do you think if I delete both clients, directory and all, off of both No.1 and No.2, that might fix it? Reinstalling with with the proper lic/key? |

Just use the REGISTER command line parameter to re-enter the license(s), making sure each client has its own unique license -- see near the bottom of this FAQ.

From the manual:
To enter the correct license key, open your SageTV folder, right-click on the SageTVClient.exe file and create a new shortcut. Then right-click on the shotcut and go to Properties. Then enter in the Target line at the end after the quotes a space and then the work REGISTER. The correct entry will look like this: "C:\Progrma Files\Frey Technologies\SageTV\SageTVClient.exe" REGISTER. The you will be prompted to enter the new license key. After your correct license key is accepted, you can delete the shotcut you just created.

That did it. Thank both of you sirs, a quick and satisfactory solution to a problem, can't beat that.
![]() BTW, is that section in the 6.1-A manual? I didn't see it on the pages you mentioned. I'm running 6.2.7. Last edited by Keenan; 03-17-2008 at 05:34 PM. |

It is in section 6 under license. I did refer to the CURRENT manual. 6.2.10 is the current Sage release.

I have the exact same problem but on a Mac client. The solution detailed is specific to Windows. How do I force the client to register a new license on a Mac?
