Placeshifter sage.playbackexception after few hours on Ubuntu
After playing video for a few hours I get playback stops and I get sage.playbackexception error on my PC running Ubuntu with Placeshifter (the server is a WHS box).
The PC needs to be rebooted in order to be able to play back video again. Any idea what the issue could be or where I could look to find out for more information on what the error is? Many Thanks T |

Which graphic card and drivers are you using on the ubuntu system?

Hi,
I'm a bit of a linux newbie - where is the best place to find the driver details? The most detail I can find is in the "Screen and Graphics" preferences where it tells me I am using an Intel 915 (which is correct as this is on an old Dell Latitude X1) and it has chosen to use the "Intel - Experimental modesetting driver" Many Thanks for your help! Is it using a wireless connection? (Dell latitude is a laptop, is it not?). If so, then it may be that the wireless connection drops... briefly. If you are running wireless, try running wired for a bit and see if it changes anything.
I have seen playback exceptions from time to time... I think it's pretty much a generic error message. I've never had to reboot (client or server) in order reconnect.

I've tried wired - no better there - same issue. Is there any where to get some more useful debug from why it is not behaving?

When I have seen this exception in the past, it has been because the server has failed to send video to the client. If you haven't done so already, check the sagetv_*.txt log files on the server. It may contain some other information on why/if the server has stopped sending the video stream.

I couldn't see anything obviously wrong in the logs. I have resorted to installing XP back on the laptop - and placeshifter works reliably now, and the UI seems far more responsive - so I suspect a video driver issue within Linux.
Thanks for you help! T |
