ATI 650 Adjustment

After upgrading to 6.3.5 the recording quality has dropped (I also had to upgrade the capture card drivers at the same time, so I'm not sure what caused the change).

My question is this: I have two ATI 650 cards in my system. I have the ATI control panel applet, but I don't see how I tell it which card to adjust (I want to adjust both of them the same way, and maybe that's what it does, but that's not clear to me).

Can anyone with a similar setup tell me how they went about configuring the multiple cards?

I'd also be interested in hearing from anyone who has switched away from the 650 cards. I've gotten good results from them, on occasion, but it seems like I spend a lot of time tweaking things, and then having to re-tweak them when I update drivers.

Some of the latest drivers for the ATI 650 pro have a bug where bright white scenes produces really bad audio/visual noise. That bug has been present since the 7.8 driver. Haven't tested the latest 8.3 driver but it was present up to at least 8.2. The only known fix is to reinstall the 7.7 driver.

If that isn't your issue, then I'm not sure what to tweak -- because I haven't done any. The 650 has produced the best picture of any analog card for me (other card I've used with Sage incl. pvr250 & ati550).

Hi,

I use two pci based 650 tuners. With one of the recent RC's I did notice a drop in pq with these tuners. Usually they rival the picture strait out of my
STB's. I was going to try the latest ATI drivers and decided to get everything else up to date first. When I upgraded to the latest sagetv RC (V 6.3.8 at that time) the pq improved to its previous quality. You may want to try that first.
