Need help fixing PlaybackException Error...

hi there -

i just installed sage on a fresh windows xp computer and am getting the following error during the setup/configuration process for my tuner card:

sage.PlaybackException:Error (-5,0x80040256): There was a problem rendering the audio portion.

i don't see any video or audio through the tuner card.

i'd really appreciate help resolving this. here are some details about my system:

1. OS: Windows XP
2. Audio: Built-in high definition audio (RealTek ALC 880) using R1.87 drivers
3. TV Tuner: Hauppauge PVR-150 using driver version 2.0.48.24227
4. Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 7600 using latest forceware drivers

That particular error code means "Cannot play back the audio stream: no audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not responding." So apparently there's some issue with your audio drivers or something. Try running dxdiag.exe and see what it thinks.

I've seen that error code here and a couple other places. Reinstalling or updating the sound card drivers fixed the problem, but I think one person didn't have any sound card & needed to install one.

thanks, folks. yup, it was a problem with the sound card driver (which got messed up when i re-installed the os). got that fixed and all is well now. appreciate the help.
