Sage Music Issue

Another Problem…
I have mapped a network drive to import music from another box. I can play the MP3s via VLC but get the following error from sage:

“There was an error playing the selection of: Error (-2): Files selected for playback are no longer on disc:”

What's up with that.

Are you using service mode? If so, it can't use mapped drive letters, but it can use UNC paths if logged in as a user w/a password who has permission to access those paths.

If you select a song in SageTV's music browser, then view its details page, what is listed as the path to the song file? Does the SageTV client have permission to access that path? Edit: Oh, if you are still using v5, like your sig says, you won't have the newer music browser.

I am not using Sage service.
I cannot figure out how to view song details: Play now, cancel or add to playlist are my options.

I have upgraded to Sage V6.
I now can see the "song details" you refered to.
The Songs paths are: T:\Artist\song

File size shows as 0 MB. files are not playable

again, VLC Player and other Media players can play all the songs as mapped from the other box. Not using Service mode.

That still sounds like some sort of permissions issue, where SageTV isn't allowed to read files from that path.

Or, if using a client, it may see a local drive T that doesn't have those files & thus can't play them (but I'm not sure if it would show a file size of 0 in that case).

Not using server/client ; Its just a shared network drive on another Computer.

So Sage can import them but not play them?
So how do I fix it?

It's a shared network drive. Sage needs to read and write. You need to have the user on your SageTV machine also exist on the machine that holds you shared network drive.

What path is VLC using to access the file?
What file size does VLC show?
Can you browse to the file with Windows Explorer with both a UNC path and a mapped drive path?
What file size shows for each of those?
Does the file have an owner? I have had occasions where Windows did not apply an owner to a file, and that would cause problems across a networked share.

Perhaps try the debug log to see what error the log contains when trying to play a song. Maybe it will have more details.
