Is this Card supported: AVerMedia AVerTV Combo PCIe
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16815100015R
It appears to be similar to the M780 which is supported, but I just can't verify whether or not it is the same card with a different name. Anyone using it it there setup? (getting qam?) EDIT: NEVER MIND I FOUND MY ANSWER. Last edited by craigap; 02-20-2008 at 04:39 PM. |

Only reason to use SAGe is so I could possibly use the ClearQam option.
For the M780 it's only supported under VIsta. I will not be upgrading to Windows Vista for at least another Year or so. The place where I work has no plans to upgrade to Windows Vista Really have no urge to buy another HDTV card, this one actually performs better than the Happauge 1600 I have in my other computer. This VISTA or MCE only crap has got to stop, no reason this cannot be supported under Windows XP. The Avermedia Center supports everything under the sun for the M780, only thing it's lacking is the automatic schedule updates for what's on tv. It can use 3rd party solutions I think for EPG guides. Oh right and it's free. Thanks for nothing |

If you are receiving signals from OTA antenna - card works great. Also, SD via SVideo works well.

The email I got from Sage says it's not supported. I told them that I dual boot vista and xp, but they made no mention of it being supported under vista.

I'm using it under Vista and it gets ClearQAM just fine (i'm just having some issues with it finding the same channels that I get on my HDHomerun, and Sage is working on my machine trying to see what is what with it. They are definitely actively trying to get it supported fully though..

Don't know why you'd be upset with Sage on this one, it's Avermedia's drivers who have the limitation...

Per this post on The Green Button, Avermedia added XP support into their MCE clear QAM beta drivers in early February:
http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/per...ad.aspx#241507 These drivers had previously only worked in Vista. I hope that when the beta for those drivers wraps up, and they are released, that Sage can also add clear QAM support for XP. Who knows when the beta will wrap up though. They have been in beta since October of last year: http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/per...ad.aspx#216045 Just to reiterate, I am HOPING they add XP support. Nobody has mentioned that they would. It's just that Sage told me in a support email that it was a AverMedia driver issue, and if AverMedia has solved it for MCE, the lets hope they can for Sage too. I was in the same boat back in december (M780 in XP), but I gave up waiting and upgraded my HTPC to Vista. I tried using a Huappauge HVR-1800 instead of the M780 in XP, but the M780 was so much better (tuning speed and analog channel quality) that I switched back and moved to Vista |

One TGB someone mentioned that all you needed to do on XP is initialize the card in QAM mode for other programs to use it on XP, although they hadn't tried it with Sage, they did have good results with GBPVR. All they did was run the QAM tools at startup, then run whatever program they wanted to use (You could even use the Aver TV tool that came with the card). I haven't tried it, but I may end up pulling one card and trying it in a XP machine just to see if it works or not (but that'll be down the road, when the wife and kids aren't around to wonder why the systems running one tuner shy :P).
