generic BT8x8 card supported?

I DL'd the trial and fired it up. I get sound but no video. When I change channels I see an error:
"There was a problem utilizing the specific capture configuration. Unable to configure the audio capture portion of the filter graph. ErrCode=0x80004005"

Seems strange that I can hear audio of TV, but the error says it failed on audio configuration. Meanwhile it hasn't complained about video, and that's what's missing.

I am using an old generic BT8x8 card; it works fine with ATV2000. Is it just the case that this card isn't supported by Sage?

Change around your video and audio drivers in the setup.

I have tried:
Audio Decoder -- Default & MPEG Audio Decoder
Audio Renderer -- Default & Creative Sound Blaster PCI
Video Filter -- Default (uses vmr on XP) & Overlay
Video Decoder -- Default & WinDVD Decoder
MPEG Mode: only tried default
Deinterlacing: only tried default

No setting combination I've found seems to make it work.

Here's a summary of the hardware:
Athlon XP1600+
NVIDIA GeForce 3 Ti 200
Sound Blaster PCI
Conexant BtPCI TV/FM capture card

You have to have a hardware based MPEG-2 encoder card. See: System Requirements.

does BT8x8 card provide hardware MPEG-2 encoding?

I feel pretty stupid. I have no idea whether the Conexant BtPCI card I have (based on the BT8x8 chipset) has hardware MPEG-2 encoding -- I got it used, with no documentation. Does the previous post ("you need a card with mpeg-2 hardware encoding") mean that the card I have does not support hardware encoding?

Sorry to be so clueless.

Seems that way -- do a search for "BT8x8" and you will see a few threads giving the exact error message you mention.

If you are going to get heavy into PVR use, you are going to want a good tuner anyway. A pvr250 is in the 90-$150 range, not bad considering what you get.
