6.3.9 - Nice performance but weird animations
Today I upgraded to 6.3.9 and JAVA 1.6 update 4 (was at 3). The first thing I noticed was a marked improvement in menu transitions and overall performance. Just "snappier". Nice. The one thing I saw though, was when I am tuning a channel the animations shrink into the background over and over and the main screen alternates between the screen and black. I use a network encoder with DVB so some channel changes take quite a while. Once the channel tunes it plays video normally.

I upgraded to 6.3.9RC last night, and would have to agree with both your assesments.
The UI does seem snappier. But the transitions of some of the UI elements act like they are on speed (a bad thing). I'll try to see if I can do a movie capture of what I'm taking about.

AtariJeff, are you running Sage with FSE?
It happened to me again when I was running under Full Screen. I then windowed Sage, in an attempt to start up the screen capture program, and the problem went away while it was windowed. It worked correctly the rest of the night while it was windowed... I'll keep my eye on it.

Yes I'm running FSE. I didn't notice any problems with it last night so I'm not sure what it was. Keeping fingers crossed.
