Sage Running Slow

I am running SageTV v6.2.10 on a mac mini with an Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GHz processor with 2GB of Ram and OSX 10.5.2.

I installed SageTV onto 10.5.1 and suffered from slow menu response and poor playback of video with skipped frames and sluggish motion. These are movies that play back using the Quicktime Player, Front Row or VLC without issue. The movies range from avi's and mov's to transport streams. These issues persisted after updating the OS to 10.5.2.

What is going on?

I can not believe that this is as good as it gets with SageTV.
How can I sort out the awful performance I am getting at the moment?

yours hopefully

Alex

Hey Alex,

I am running the same exact system as you, and I am not having
major issues (some video stutters that drive me nutters, tho).

Why don't you try the last beta here:

http://download.sage.tv/SageTVMac_V6_3_5.dmg

You might find your performance improve. Please let me know
what happens if you do upgrade SageTV.

McB

Hi all!
I'm trying out the beta on my Mac Pro with 4 CPU cores running at 2,66 GHz. 2GB RAM and plenty of hard disk space. This thing is not running good guys!? Video stutters, GUI is slow. The app. crashes very often, and the lower 75% of the screen has a green tint to it, and the upper 25% is black and white. This is with files that run perfectly in FrontRow, VLC, Quicktime etc. I'm new to Sage, but not to video and media in general.

Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers

/Mr.Mac

There's a re-write going on of the Mac version(s). We'll keep hearing that another beta is only weeks away.

same here

We're trying Sage out at our home. Family of 6 with 5 modern client computers (1x WinXp wireless G, 3x dual core Macs, 1x eMac). SageTV server is brand new HTPC running AMD 64 2.7 Ghz, 2Gb Ram, Vista ultimate 64. etc etc. We're having the same results on the first Mac tests we've done. Very poor performance, whether watching live or recorded clips. Sometimes get a few minutes of uninterrupted video, but then lots of stuttering and freezeups. Mac is a new Macbook with wireless N (router is N as well, also from Apple). My WinXP laptop fares a lot better despite having only wireless G. We've also experienced several crashes on the Vista server already, having to restart SageTV to get things running again.

On the one hand I'm glad to hear others are having the problem, and not just ourselves. Is there official confirmation of this problem? We have some time left in the trial, but not much.

cheers,
mb
