Changing Resolution while Sage is Running

I currently switch between a projector (720p through component) and a 27" TV (800x600 Svideo) while sage is running. When switching resolutions/outputs (via ati hotkey) I cannot get it to not crash when 3d accel is on (which is too bad because the menu fade looks cool!).....Is this specific to me, or do others have the same problem? When I say crash, the cpu goes 100% and get black screen; have to hard reset.

As well, in non 3d accel, if I don't stop the video that is playing, the sage front end "crashes" but sometimes I can kill it with task manager, and just restart the front end (service continues working just fine).

I'm only using overlay, vmr9 is no good with my radeon 8500. Any suggestions? I've considered having the front end shut down before the res change, then restart after its completed, but that's a pain.

It used to work just fine when I just switched inputs between vga and svid, both running 800x600.

I do the same thing and I believe I also experienced the same problem once while the video window was active.

I mapped the ati command to change from one display to the other via the sage menu (using Nielm's dynamic menu). Usually I do the switch while there is no video being played and I guess this is why I only experienced it recently. I don't use 3D so stopping the video seems to be the trick for me.

I find changing resolutions while any video source is running to be somewhat problematic.

I guess I'm more annoyed at the 3d accel problem....I would have to close sagetv, and then reopen it to fix it The video thing I can live with; adding stop to my 'switch to proj/tv' macros on my remote will stop me from forgetting to do it.

I'm not sure I fully understand what you're doing (changing resolutions or changing resolutions and outputs) but if it's just the former, you can use Powerstrip to automatically switch resolutions when SageTV starts.
