FWIW, here's what I use on my zune. Again, it does covnvert on synch in Zune, but this only seriously takes like 5 -10min tops on converting a 1hr show of SD content. I use "Great" setting (2Gb/hr) for original, than use this modified Ipod transcode line to make into an Mp4. Then pull over wireless connection onto main pc and synch.

>>transcoder/formats/iPod-High\ Quality=f\=mp4;MCompressionDetails\=-maxrate 2500000 -qmin 3 -qmax 5 -bufsize 33554432 -g 300;[bf\=vid;f\=mpeg4;br\=1800000;fps\=29.97;w\=320;h\=240;arn\=4;ard\=3;][bf\=aud;f\=aac;sr\=44100;ch\=2;br\=128000;]

BCJENKINS: Back from the 4th (I hope yours was great). I used the free Zunevideo conversion tool and was able to get some "good" conversions, meaning that the audio/video was fine, and it didn't cause the Zune software to perform a conversion before syncing. Here are the parameters that I was sucessfull with:

VIDEO SETTINGS AUDIO SETTINGS
Output Format Bitrate FPS Bitrate Samp freq
WMV ver.2 500 25 Auto Auto
WMV ver.2 500 25 192K 44100
WMV ver.2 500 30 192K 44100

So worse, case, I have a tool to use for conversion, but I still don't understand why it won't work directly from the SageTV console? Any chance I have an old codec or something. I was using the conversion software you pointed me to on another machine. JUST AS A REMINDER, my problem is the audio, it is very "clippy".

CABALSAN: Appreciate the suggestion, and I did get it working, but that 2nd conversion really drives me crazy just no need for it. I'd really like to figure out how to make it work with 1 conversion. Thanks again.
