Remote Wonder support

Is direct support for Remote Wonder planned for the final release of V2?

The plugin that I was using under 1.4 wasn't perfect, but it was plenty good enough to use Sage (I never touched mouse or keyboard except to edit settings)..

or am I going to have to mess with Girder?

Currently - the remote does VERY little under V2.

Ditto. the RW is an inexpensive, yet very capable remote. Is there something in the current beta that breaks the plugin that can(or will) be fixed?

ATI RW plugin author here...

I have not yet installed the beta, but plan to some time this week, at which point, I will work on a 2.0 version if necessary...

In the mean time, the sendmessage codes in original plugin can be modifed in the ini file to reassign the fixed buttons to different funtions, and to add programmable functions to the A-F buttons..

> Currently - the remote does VERY little under V2.
Any suggestions for feature requests, PM me, or add it to the RW plugin thread

I am actually (slowly) starting to using Girder myself...

Except that it is just such a complicated pig to configure a remote to do different things for different apps, something which is so easy and elegant with the ATI SW...

But on the plus side, Girder runs as a realtime app, so is more responsive under high CPU load.
In addition someone has written a GML that gives mouse movement is FAR smoother than ATI's SW, and dropping the ATI driver and using Girder is the only way to configure th ATI-Only buttons (TV,DVD, guide, Power etc)..

I suggest the X10 remote that I talked about on another thread. It is the same as the RW and will also controls your TV, VCR and audio system. It also can use Girder but comes with software already configured for Sage.

Just to make sure, the x10 remote, which I found on their website, works out of the box with Sage in a manner similar to the Hauppage remote?

I have had a quick play with V2, and it seems that it is ignoring commands in certain screens...
This affects keyboard usage, Girder usage and my RW plugin!

For example:
The only shortcut that seems to work inthe home screen is TV (CTRL-V)
In the Home screen, Guide (CTRL-X) does not work, but it does in LiveTV mode...
Library, Search don't seem to work anywhere...
In TV mode, Time scroll works, but you cannot scroll with the arrows!
Options does not seem to do very much any more (apart from pop-up the OSD in the TV mode, as does Info)

I think this sort of thing will be fixed in later beta versions as the UI gets improved.

I think that's an excellent point. Right now this is an application is flux. You don't want to rewrite your plugin only to find that the next beta release changes the situation. Waiting til things settle a little,if possible, is probably the best idea.

Yes, the new software comes preinstalled for Sage and many others. It just send keyboard commands through the RF. The one I have has been having issues with the transceiver. We think the mobo is blowing frying the transceiver. I should get another one this week so I will be testing it more. But I am sure no one else will have the problem like I have been. It did work for a few days and I loved it. It also will respond quicker then the Hauppauge remote does since it is sending keyboard commands.

I use the ATI RW and ran accross your post HERE but your links seem to be 2 different models. One looks a bit more mouse friendly the other a bit more TV friendly - same functionality? I presume you did not use it with v2 before it died??

If the AIW remote is IR, can't it be used with USBUIRT? Sage has native support for USBUIRT already.

I'm actually using a spare tivo remote along with girder. It works well, though I haven't yet played with having a button send different keystrokes in different apps. There really aren't many apps other than Sage I'd like to control.

Send a message via AIM to ErsatzTom
The Remote Wonder is an RF remote. No IR.

Do you mean these two remotes you linked to in the other thread?

Because if so, one of these pictures is out of date. The directional control is clearly different. One has one large directional control and the other has been divided into seperate buttons. Also it seems the first one has two or four extra contols. The second picture is too small for me to tell whether the two controls above the directional layout are the Volume and Channel up/down. Or if they are the left/right mouse buttons shown on the first remote, just moved above the directional instead of down to the left/right.

Could you please give me some more info on these remotes. I like the seperate button layout of the second but don't want to lose the mouse style buttons if possible. Also do you have a better picture of the second remote, the one on your Phenix site. I would possibly be interested in a purchase if I can get the info I'm after.

Feel free to PM me, and I'll give you my email. If you feel too much talk about this, would be OT. But I think a short answer in one of the two threads would be good as well.

PS:If your quoted response did not refer to the two remotes let me know and I'll delete this post to help keep this thread clear.

I poked around and I THINK one seems to be model UR86a ("mouse pad") the other UR74a ("tv pad"). Not sure that the UR74a is PC compatible.

See this thread for some info.

Wink

Well.. you found me... I see from your profile you are a bit ahead of me...still

I miss my RW (just hate the H remote) w/Sage which I'm sure will come but the X10 RF+IR seems cool for the $$. I hope the correct model is sorted out.

The only commands that seem to work consistantly with V2 on my ATI RW (using either Girder, or using my plugin on the HW support forum) are:

Everywhere:
TV (the custom button command, not the TV button. and only sometimes)
Home (stop button)
Power
Full Screen (right of arrows)

Screens with live preview
up/down/left/right/enter
play/pause

Menus
up/down/left/right (except liveTV)

TV Guide
FF/REW, CHUP, CHDOWN
TV
up/down/left/right (except liveTV)
1-9+Enter direct channel select (but does not work very well)
Favourite (tick)
Record
Watched

Live TV mode
FF/REW, CHUP, CHDOWN,
FF2/REW2 (commands)
1-9
Enter (ok)
Guide
TimeScroll (but unlike 1.4, uses FF/REW to scroll)
Play Faster
Play slower
Favourite (tick)
Record
Watched
Options (menu button, bottom left of numberpad)
Info command

but even then sometime Sage2.0 just stops responding to any commands, keyboard or other... Ah well, it's just a beta!

(and for those who don't know what an ATI remote wonder looks like:
Version 1:

Version 2:

Both are RF only.

I apologize for that. After I changed remotes I forgot to update the picture for the newer remote. I can PM you later today with information on the remote if you like.
