No luck for me

I then installed the newest AverTV app that comes with its own version of the drivers and the AverTV app finds and tunes the QAM channels perfectly! How irritating.

I do have XP MCE and dual A180s so I don't know if one of these could be the problem.
I tried all the suggestions listed in this thread and even bought a new A180. It didn't work either.

I'm just using it as an OTA tuner (only gets 1 station though). I'll give it another shot when I upgrade to Vista later this year.

Good luck!

Thanks. Just wanted to let you know that I finally got this to work. I followed the same steps after a fresh Windows install and used the new 6.4 Beta. One or both of these allowed for a successful QAM scan on the A180. Unfortunately, it did not locate/scan the few OTA stations giving me trouble with my antenna. On one of the stations the video would cut out intermittently as well (audio was always fine) so it looks like they don't keep track of the quality too much. In any case, it seems like OTA is better for me after all. You might want to try the new 6.4 Beta as it might work for you too.

This now works for me as well

I went to http://www.aver.com/mpd/support/download/a180.html and downloaded the driver - "Windows Vista Premium x32 bit (Version 3.5.0.47)"

After installing the driver, I did a clean install of Sage 6.4.

The first time I did the QAM scan, nothing came up. But once I added "QAM" to the "mmc/encoders/-2122796651/dshow_tv_type=" line, it worked!

Thanks for the heads up!

PS I'll do some testing and see if I have the same video cut outs that you did.

This thread is somewhat dated now, but I'm trying to pick up clearQAM channels via SageTV with my ATI 650 PCIe card. I'm game for the sage.properties file modifications described in this post; but here's a dumb question: how does one modify a .properties file?

One would shut down SageTV (app or service) Make sure to quit the app (gone from system tray) or shutdown the service. Use notepad to open the Sage.properties file. (You may want to turn on the ability to view file extensions. They are a few Sage.properties files with slightly different extensions. Edit, save the file and then start SageTV up.

AverDuet

Got the Aver Duet to work using the same technique of editing the .properties with the dshow_tv_type=QAM and scanning. I then went through and remapped all the channels to simple numbers.
I was able to get the A180 to work in the same machine as the A188 Duet.
I was not able to get both tuners on the Duet to work. Sage only recognized the first one. I went into the .properties and removed AVerMedia 716x BDA Digital Capture #2 from the mmc/ignore_encoders= setting and tried it again. A 2nd tuner showed up in Sage HOWEVER it does not decode any digital TV. Deleted it because it did not work.
